When CCA was hired to represent Wente Vineyards in 2010, few people realized the critical role that this label played in California’s wine history, let alone the talented, multigenerational family behind the wine and Wente’s strong commitment to sustainability. By telling this story and organizing dynamic events (including a Centennial Chardonnay symposium with industry experts and public yoga classes at the winery), CCA modernized the brand while educating the public in Wente Vineyards’ legacy.
Though Lodi’s winegrowers and vintners had laid the foundation for the region’s rise to renown, these diverse groups needed a unified voice and vision to showcase the AVA’s potential. In 2012, CCA launched a campaign to invigorate wine influencers’ perception of Lodi as a distinctive viticultural region of over 100 grape varieties, multigenerational growers, and an innovative approach to sustainability. Through media events, live video series, and outreach to key media, Charles Communications helped put Lodi on the map, leading the AVA to be named Wine Region of the Year in 2016 in our 4th year of working with the region.
When CCA first took on Fess Parker Winery in 2000, it was a medium sized production California winery with little market recognition among the press and trade. Yet over the years, CCA capitalized on the appeal of the brand name to the baby boomer wine drinker, along with the cachet of the winery's owner as a Hollywood legend, to position the brand as a leader and champion for Santa Barbara County wines. Since that time, the winery has been on a roll experiencing annual brisk growth, and the media interest remains high for both the wine’s quality and the compelling family story. After this key success 7 years ago, we are re-engaging as their agency to launch a new endeavor.
